CompactPCI Express design templates added to Shanghai Vault

The Shanghai Content team is very pleased to announce an update to the previous CompactPCI release. This week we're adding design templates for the CompactPCI Express standard.

Much like the transition from PCI to PCI Express, the CompactPCI Express standard brings the serial packet based bus of PCI Express to the CompactPCI form factor. This brought significant improvements to data rates.

CompactPCI Express modules can implement the same J3, J4, J5 connectors as CompactPCI, but J1 and J2 were replaced with connectors more suited to the task. Power is delivered through a specific connector allowing individual modules access to up to 400 watts.

In this CompactPCI Express release to the Shanghai Vault we've included:

  1. Peripheral modules Types 1 and 2
  2. System modules 2-link and 4-link
  3. Switch modules x4 and x8

All templates except Switch x8 include both 3U and 6U form factors.

AltiumLive Subscribers can use these templates by connecting to the Shanghai Vault directly from Altium Designer 10 using their AltiumLive credentials, or by browsing to the AltiumLive Design Content area and selecting the Altium Shanghai Vault.
